I have not seen the new movie Pompeii. I will probably wait until it pops up on Netflix before seeing it. I have seen a miniseries based on the famous eruption and there is the 1959 classic Last Days of Pompeii. Apparently some critics did not like this movie much and compare it to Cameron’s Titanic.

“This is, after all, “Titanic” with lava instead of ice, a tale of two pretty young people from different castes who discover their perfect love just as their world is about to go to hell, and even those who hated James Cameron’s hit romance will find themselves thinking more kindly of it after they watch Browning and Kit Harington moon over each other with one facial expression between them.” (Alonso Duraide, The Wrap )

That is just the tip of the proverbial iceberg (pun intended). E Online has a roundup of the many comparisons critics made to Titanic. You can read it here.
